Protection of welding wire against corrosion

There is a widespread misconception that a copper coating is applied to the welding wire in order to protect it from moisture and corrosion. As a manufacturer of copper-plated welding wire, we inform you that the copper-plated coating is applied exclusively as one of the ways to improve the contact during welding between the welding wire and the current collector tip. In practice, with direct contact with the surface of the welding wire of water, moist air, fog, the copper-plated welding wire starts to rust more quickly and more strongly than the cleaned polished welding wire.

The most effective protection against corrosion is high-quality packaging and the addition of silica gel under the packaging. We pack the welding wire as follows - we immerse the coil with the welding wire wound on it into a plastic bag, add silica gel inside and seal the open part of the bag, then put it in a thick cardboard box. The consumer needs to know that in any case, the welding wire must be stored in covered rooms without high humidity.
